When coming to visit Norfolk I highly recommend a trip to Blickling Hall. Tucked away in the Broadland area near Aylsham, Blickling Hall is an estate that bursts with wildlife and history.
Beautiful sculptured gardens with lawn toys to keep the kids entertained (and adults alike if I’m being honest here).
After wondering around the impressive hall and gardens, I took a walk around their nature reserve too. That turned out to be a lovely treat with so much wildlife around.
The lake walk is breath-taking when turning to look back at the hall and I met some lovely friendly cows!
Blickling Hall was once a childhood home of Anne Boleyn and as such has lots of regal history inside the hall. Blickling’s owners have used the estate as a place of quiet refuge, while playing their part on the world’s political stage. Philip Kerr, 11th Marquis of Lothian, left this estate to the National Trust in 1940, and he’s vital to its story. Without him, it’s unlikely that Blickling would still be around for you to explore, along with many other places that you love.
Blickling Hall has seen a lot of transformation through the years and it is little wonder why it has become a favourite in Norfolk’s tourism.
